About WAYout

WAYout supports street and disadvantaged young people in Sierra Leone, changing  the lives of street, vulnerable and conflict affected young people through the arts.

They offer training and shelter, make films that can effect change and record music that enables the excluded to  re-engage, promoting artistic freedom, education and empowerment.

Like many organisations working in Sierra Leone, 2015 was a tough year for WAYout, dealing with the Ebola crisis.

Unlike many youth organisations- they remained open but this meant an increase in numbers coming to WAYout, for somewhere to learn and create and as a safe place offering food and shelter during the lockdowns.

So their costs went up, whilst their income went down.

During the Ebola Crisis 83 young people earned certificates, they opened a new studio and finished five albums, supported other NGOs with videos.

WAYout is bringing their successful carol concert back to the heart of London.

Raising funds for WAYout’s work in Sierra Leone, the concert will include some amazing acts, the chance to sing along in a carol concert with a difference. As an example, watch the Youtube video of their last carol concert: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNIWbWd9iKQ

The last two years have been devastating for Sierra Leone. From the wide-reaching impact of Ebola, to more recent floods washing away many Freetown residents’ homes. Our work raising awarenes, providing voice, opportunities, shelter and homes to street youth and disadvantaged communities has already changed many lives and has never been more important.

The last carol concert had a true African twist with dancing in the aisles, along with the traditional carol-singing.
This year, the amazing London African Gospel Choir (www.thelagc.com) will be joining them again.

Please come along and have a great night, supporting WAYout’s work in the process.

And if you can’t join them in person, PLEASE SHARE with anyone you think may be interested.
