About the WAYout Project:

WAYout is working in Sierra Leone providing educational and production facilities and resources, such as music studios, training in arts and media, and film facilities, providing opportunities to young people which will lead to their progression into music, film and other educational and employment opportunities.

Their current projects include Street to Street, supporting street youth to make video diaries of their lives to communicate with kids in the UK; the WAYout scholarships allowing disadvantaged children to gain scholarships to the country’s only music academy; and the WAYout creative hubs – a series of creative hubs with WAYout Macs set up to support young people to create music and film.

Their new fundraising appeal is ‘A Quid for the Kids’. They are asking for a minimum of £1 per fortnight (so actually 50p per week) – its small, but if all their readers donated this amount then they should be able to open their first centre by the end of this 2010!!

For information on how to set up a direct debit, email them here info@wayoutarts.org. or you can donate at the WAYout website http://wayoutarts.net/

Kelli-Leigh was born in south London on May 3rd 1985. With music running strong in the family and her mother being a singer, songwriter and artist, Kelli-Leigh was always encouraged from a young age to be creative. From attending the Brit school and studying & performing alongside some of today’s biggest selling artists Kelli-Leigh is on track to becoming the artist she is destined to be.

For the last couple of years Kelli-Leigh has been one half of the creative team ‘KI’. Who have had well received releases on iTunes, where some of their tracks are featured on various compilation albums and can be heard whilst shopping in various UK high street stores. KI also embarked on countless mini tours in Croatia for the ‘Hemingway Bar’ performing in Split, Zagreb, Opatjia, Riejka, Brist & Podgora and of course many exclusive venues and festivals right here in the UK.

Now, Kelli-Leigh has embarked on her solo pathway with her style best described as a mix of Soul, Funk, Rock, with her voice & Lyrics being the main focus, as evidenced by tracks like ‘Easy’, ‘If I Ruled The World’ and ‘Smiling At You Now’ (which you can watch a live recording of below

“I hope my music can touch people like so many tracks have moved and touched me” – Kelli-Leigh
